Barrel Spring Check Valves
Barrel spring check valves are designed specifically to attach directly to the outlet port of chemical metering pumps (diaphragm, peristaltic, and piston types) via a 3/8 in. hose barb connection. The 316 SS barrel body and spring resist sodium hypochlorite, muriatic acid (HCl), CO₂-saturated water, and other water treatment chemicals that destroy polymer check valves over time. These are the most common check valve in chlorine, pH, and coagulant chemical injection systems.
Y-Pattern Spring Check Valves
Y-pattern (oblique) check valves mount the disc at an angle to the flow path, reducing pressure drop compared to inline configurations while still providing reliable spring-loaded backflow prevention. The Y-body also makes inspection and seat cleaning accessible without removing the valve from line. Available in 316 SS with NPT threads for chemical process and corrosive fluid service.
Swing Disc Check Valves
Swing disc check valves use a hinged disc (clapper) that swings open with forward flow and falls closed under gravity and reverse pressure. The low-cracking-pressure swing design suits low-pressure and gravity-driven systems where spring-loaded checks would not open fully. Available in 316 SS for corrosive service applications.
When to Choose Stainless Check Valves
Use 316 stainless check valves whenever the process fluid contains chlorine, halide salts, acids, caustics, or any chemical that attacks brass or iron.
