Solvent Weld vs. Threaded PVC Fittings
Socket (solvent-weld) fittings are cemented with PVC primer and cement, creating a permanent, integral joint that is stronger than the pipe itself when properly made. Threaded NPT fittings allow disassembly but are limited to lower pressures and should use PTFE thread tape — never pipe dope containing solvents that can crack PVC.
