Socket (Solvent-Weld) PVC Check Valves
Socket-end check valves accept Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC pipe cemented into both ports, forming a permanent, integral check valve assembly within a PVC piping system. These are the standard configuration in municipal water treatment chemical feed lines, RO system permeate/concentrate circuits, and pool/spa chemical injection systems where all-PVC piping is used end-to-end.
Female NPT PVC Check Valves
Female NPT-threaded PVC check valves connect directly to standard NPT-threaded pipe or pump fittings, providing a removable and serviceable check valve without solvent welding. The spring-loaded poppet seats reliably against low cracking pressure — important in gravity-fed systems and low-backpressure pump applications.
Seal Material Selection: EPDM vs. Viton
EPDM seals are compatible with chlorine, hypochlorite, acids, and most water treatment chemicals — the right choice for the majority of pool/spa and water treatment applications. Viton (FKM) seals offer broader compatibility with petroleum solvents, strong oxidizers, and concentrated acids.
