2-Piece Full Port, 1000 psi WOG (949161–949168, 949170, 949180; 1/4 in.–4 in.) — 316 stainless steel, NPT threaded, with a full-bore ID; the manufacturer prints a 1000 psi WOG working pressure, −60 to 450°F, 125 steam rating and 100% leak testing for this series, with PTFE seats and seals and a blow-out-proof stem.

2-Piece Full Port, 2000 psi (949171–949178; 1/4 in.–2 in.) — Two-piece full-port construction in 316 stainless steel, NPT threaded, with PTFE seats and a blow-out-proof stem; the manufacturer prints a 2000 psi pressure rating for this series.

1-Piece Standard Port (949101–949108; 1/4 in.–2 in.) — Single-body 316 stainless steel construction with female NPT threads and a standard port; the manufacturer notes that standard port has restricted flow. Rated 1000 psi by the manufacturer, with PTFE seat and seals and a blow-out-proof stem; the handle accepts a padlock.

3-Piece Light-Duty Threaded (949270–949280; 1/4 in.–4 in.) — Spec sheet available on request.

316 Stainless Mini Ball Valves (1/8 in.–1/2 in.) — Two Midland mini series: 400 psi working pressure (46930SS, 46931SS, 46932SS, 46933SS, 46935SS, 46936SS) and 1000 psi WOG with fluoroelastomer O-rings (46903SS, 46904SS, 46912SS, 46923SS).

Frequently Asked Questions

When is 316 stainless steel worth the higher cost over brass?

316 SS is generally specified where brass is not suitable for the media or temperature. Whether a particular fluid, concentration and temperature is suitable for a given valve depends on the body, seat and seal materials — tell us your service conditions and we will confirm suitability with the manufacturer. See our CF8M Stainless Steel Guide for a detailed breakdown.

What is the difference between the 1000 psi and 2000 psi stainless valves?

Both are 316 stainless steel two-piece full-port ball valves. The manufacturer prints 1000 psi WOG for the 949161 series and 2000 psi for the 949171 series (no fluid qualifier is printed for the 2000 psi rating). Choose the 2000 psi series where the system pressure exceeds the 1000 psi series rating; both ratings are as printed by the manufacturer — confirm derating for your operating temperature.

What is the practical difference between 1-piece, 2-piece, and 3-piece stainless ball valves?

A 1-piece valve is built as a single body; a 2-piece valve has a body and a separate body cap; a 3-piece valve is built from a center body and two end pieces. Midland prints a standard port for the 1-piece series and a full port for the 2-piece series. Tell us your piping and maintenance needs and we will help you choose.
