Overview
The Midland Industries 948172 is a 1/2 in. full-port brass ball valve with Male NPT x Female NPT (MPT x FPT) end connections, UL approved and rated to 600 PSI WOG. The male-by-female pattern lets you thread it inline without an extra coupling, while the full-port bore keeps flow restriction and pressure drop to a minimum. A chrome-plated brass ball, PTFE seats and packing, and a quarter-turn lever give smooth, low-torque, bubble-tight shutoff for water, oil, air, and gas service.

Not for potable drinking water - see our lead-free valve guide below for NSF/ANSI 61 options.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this valve UL approved?
Yes. The 948 series is UL approved for its rated service at 600 PSI WOG.
Can I use it on drinking water?
No. This valve contains lead and is not certified for potable water. For drinking-water systems, choose a lead-free valve certified to NSF/ANSI 61.
What does MPT x FPT mean?
One end is male NPT and the other is female NPT, so you can thread the valve directly inline without an added coupling.
What does full port mean?
The ball bore matches the pipe inside diameter, so the valve adds almost no flow restriction when fully open.
