Flare fittings create an exceptionally strong, vibration-resistant, leak-tight connection by mechanically deforming (flaring) the end of soft metal tubing — typically copper, aluminum, or brass — into a conical seat that mates with the fitting's matching flare angle. The flare-to-seat metal-to-metal contact requires no sealant or thread tape and withstands high pressure, thermal cycling, and vibration better than most other tubing connection methods.

Apex Flow Solutions stocks SAE 45° brass flare fittings — the standard for refrigeration, HVAC, natural gas, and propane service — in adapters, elbows, tees, and cap/plug configurations across common tubing sizes. All fittings meet SAE J513 and are compatible with copper refrigerant tubing, soft copper gas lines, and aluminum tubing.
SAE 45° vs. Inverted Flare
SAE 45° flare fittings (the most common type) are used in refrigeration, HVAC, and gas service. Inverted flare fittings (37° angle) are the standard for automotive brake lines and high-pressure hydraulic applications. These two types are not interchangeable — always verify the flare angle before ordering. See our SAE 45° vs. Inverted Flare guide for identification details.
Common Applications
Refrigeration line sets and HVAC equipment connections, natural gas and propane appliance connectors, instrument tubing connections, and any high-vibration or high-cycle application where compression fittings may loosen over time.
