Ear clamps — also called pinch clamps or Oetiker-style clamps — are single-use, permanent hose sealing devices that create a 360° uniform clamp by mechanically deforming (pinching) one or two raised ears on the band with a pinch tool. Once crimped, the band cannot be loosened — the seal is permanent and cannot be defeated by vibration, pressure pulsation, or thermal cycling. This makes ear clamps the correct choice for high-reliability connections that will not be serviced.

Ear clamps are the OEM standard in automotive cooling systems, heater hose connections, fuel system hose clamps, and under-hood applications where clamp loosening or vibration-induced leaks are not acceptable. They are also widely used in medical device fluid circuits, appliance water connections, and industrial hose assemblies where service accessibility is not required.
Single-Ear vs. Double-Ear
Single-ear clamps are the most common type — one deformed ear draws the band tight in a single pinch. Double-ear (two-ear) clamps provide higher clamping force and are specified for larger-diameter hose, thicker hose walls, or higher-pressure connections. Both types require a dedicated pinch clamp tool (available separately) to crimp the ear correctly.
Material
Stainless steel ear clamps resist corrosion in fuel, coolant, and chemical service. For automotive under-hood use, stainless is the standard material because it maintains strength at elevated temperatures and resists attack from road salt, engine fluids, and coolant chemicals.
